In case you’re still new to Purpl, here’s a brief summary of how it works:

Purpl is a money transfer application that allows users to receive money in Lebanon from 45+ countries abroad. The sender can send money through our digital remittance partners Paysend or Remitly

The receiver will then receive the amount instantly on their Purpl wallet and can cash out with ZERO fees from hundreds of ATMs of Banque Libano Française – without the need for a bank account or card.

Common Questions & Answers

For Senders

  1. As a sender, do I need to have a Purpl account too?

    You don’t require to have the Purpl app to send money from abroad. Download Paysend or Remitly on IOS or Android and set up your account. All you have to do is link your card or bank account to our partner’s app, enter the beneficiary details, enter the amount you wish to send, and choose Purpl as the receiving option for the beneficiary.
  1. From which countries can I send money to Lebanon?

    We support 46 sending countries. You can view the list here, along with the remittance partner you can send with (Paysend, Remitly, or any of the two).
  1. Ok…we know there are zero cash out fees, what about the sending fees?

    Rest Assured! Purpl and our partners always ensure the sending fees are more affordable than any other available options. As a sender, you will be able to view the fees of your transaction on our partner’s platform of your choice. The fees vary based on the country you’re sending from and the remittance partner you choose to send with.

For Receivers

  1. I want to verify my Purpl account. What documents are supported?

    If you are Lebanese, you can take a photo of your Lebanese I.D, passport, or new version of the driver’s license.
    If you are a foreigner or expat in Lebanon, we recommend you take a photo of your passport. 

    In case you are still unsure of what documents to upload, or are missing a required document, you can always reach out to us – we’ll be happy to assist you with the verification process. ✔️
  1. Can I send money from Lebanon to other countries abroad?

    For the time being, it is only possible to receive money in Lebanon from countries abroad. As a start, our main goal was to make money transfers to Lebanon more affordable and accessible.
  1. Does Purpl operate as a payment gateway? Can I open a business account on Purpl to receive client payments?

    Purpl does not operate as a payment gateway. We also do not yet offer the possibility to open a business account. However, for occasional and personal transfers, you can always ask the sender to send you the amount through our partners Paysend or Remitly.
  1. I’m a freelancer or remote worker, can I receive my payments on Purpl?

    Sure you can! You would just need to ask your client or employer to use Paysend or Remitly to send you the amount on Purpl in Lebanon.
    Also, keep in mind that you will be cashing out your payments fully and with ZERO fees. 😍

  1. So how exactly do I cash out from ATMs without a bank account or card?

    Purpl introduced the first cardless ATM cash out in Lebanon. All you need to do is get the security code of your money transfer from your Purpl app (after you initiate a cash out). You go to the nearest available ATM next to you, click on “Purpl transactions”, enter your security code, enter the amount, and voila – money in hand 😎💵.

    To make it even easier for you, the geolocator provided on the Purpl app shows you the nearest available ATMs to you!
  1. There are so many money transfer services available, why should I use Purpl?

Common Concerns & Clarification

  1. I’m sending money to someone who is old or not very tech-savvy, will they know how to cash out?

    While we suggest you read up on the Purpl account setup and cash out in order to assist your receiver with the process, you don’t have to worry. 

    Our customer success team will make sure to reach out to your receiver and assist with every single step. 🦸
  2. What if the ATM I went to is closed or empty?

    The ATM cardless cash out model we are working on with BLF ensures that their ATMs always carry USD. Rarely, you might come across an ATM that doesn’t have enough funds, but will surely find USD at the next available one if you’re unable to wait for the refill. 
  3. How do you generate revenue if there are no cash out fees?

    It has never been about the money…but if you insist to know: Purpl does not practice “double dipping” where most money transfer companies benefit from both sender and beneficiary fees. We only get a share via our sending partners on the sender, but nothing on the beneficiary so they can benefit from zero cash out fees! 😊
  4. I no longer trust banks, how can I be sure that my money is safe?

    Part of Purpl’s mission is to enable financial inclusion in Lebanon by making banking infrastructure available to the unbanked, allowing anyone with the Purpl app to cash out, USD, for free, without a card or a bank account. 
    We are also in the process of onboarding more cash out partners to provide more options to our users and improving the cash out experience over time.
